Before we met Kevin today we were already having good vibes. When we did meet him, it was very refreshing. He spoke great English and had a good sense of humor! He told me that he thought "Megan" was a mans name. It was very nice to be able to joke around with him. They brought us to their factory about 50 minutes away.We explained the product to them the best that we could and they seemed to be a bit overwhelmed by the complexity of the design. At the same time they were very
interested and studied every square inch. They specialize in mostly fleece blankets. It is hard because it is a combination of a blanket and plush toy. We found one with a Minnesota Timberwolves logo on it and got very excited! We explained to them that is where we are from and they said it was fate! Some ladies came in with the boss' daughter to try to get her to say hello to me. I think they wanted to show her my yellow hair. Another gal put one of the blankets on the little girl's head and the rest was history! She was instantly attached to the pink one and did not want to give it back! She also loved the snugaboo video on Sheila's computer.
Kevin took us to lunch at a big coffee shop. It was very fancy. The waiter pointed to a meal on the menu and we didn't understand what he was trying to tell us. I think he knew what was best and we decided to trust his judgment. He was exactly right! The meat, rice and vegetables came in a carved bamboo bowl. It came with sauted lettuce, a bowl of peanuts and chicken soup. There was also a weird egg pudding dish that looked like creme brulee but was
salty and had scallions on top. The best part was watching them make the coffee. This device made coffee similar to a Rube Goldberg contraption. All that work for a 2 oz cup of coffee! I gotta get me one a those! Now we are back to the drawing board here in the Hangzhoa office. After our day went so well, we feel inspired to really kick out some finalized drawings of all 6 prototypes. One down, 5 to go!
We hope all is well back home in MN!
