She arrives at the hotel around 11:30AM. I show her my room and then we head to the buffet for lunch because she is starving. The morning snuck away from her and she forgot to eat. After lunch we tour the hotel a bit. She wants us to have a foot massage later at the hotel spa. Sure!
Eventually we grab a taxi to go to Luxun's preserved residence. The entrance is stocked with vendors of stinky tofu (fermented tofu living up to it's name) and tour guides that want you to go with them. We decline everything and get an admission ticket. The area is a series of tourist shops and separate buildings that are portions of this renowned writer's residence. It was really neat.
Their beds are cool. The are like a 4-post bed but are more enclosed with very lovely drapery surrounding it on each side. The wood is dark on all furniture. I especially loved the kitchens. They tended to have a super gigantic crock that we think must have held water.
Lamby and I bought some glass beads for future necklaces at a bargain of course. It was super hot out so we tried to stay in the shade.
Around 4:30PM we find a taxi that will take us back to the hotel. When we get here, I break out the Riesling and the crackers, snacks and sniped cheese. We bored wine glasses from the bar. Happy hour was on and it was really nice. I found out we have much in common. She's really neat.
After this mini-feast, we head to the spa. It's lively and busy, in sharp contrast to my morning visits. We sign up for some sort of healthy reflexology foot treatment. We are put in one room that has 4 lazyboy-looking chairs in it. Two staff people show up and drop off a plastic bag lined wooden bucket. The tear open an envelope and put it in. We put our feet in the buckets. It's the kind of hot that makes you recoil at first but then you want more so you go in and get used to it.
Turns out this stuff they put in expands or something. It begins to feel like rice? But it isn't rice. I am completely amused and my massuese keeps telling me to sit back but I am having fun. Lamby and I are still drinking the wine. We soak for a while and then our attending masseuses start their work. Lamby goes under the knife for removal of things. I tend to my feet more on my own so my masseuse sets about massaging from the knee down. She's on a mission to twist my legs off or change the natural rotation of my kneecaps. It's alarming but not painful. I likey.
We finish and are feeling great. I give the staff the one last swig of wine in the bottle. Lamby says they won't drink it. I hope they did. No idea.
We head back to the room and it's time for Lamby to enjoy a bath. She also has never seen Breakfast at Tiffany's. When she is done with her bath, I start the movie and fall asleep. She watches the entire thing and tells me that it's so great. What's not to love about that movie. It's got everything.
Lamby says she snores but I decline ear plugs. They typically pop out anyway.
I slept fine and she did too. Yes she does snore but it is soft. I suppose this is odd to have her camping with me when I only just met her but she's super laid back and so am I so it works. No biggie.
That's a wrap for 5/24!
